A photographer and an architech have big plans this winter in Detroit.  They plan to completely encase an abandoned home in Detroit with ice this winter.  We are patiently waiting for this story to unfold.

Mathew Radune and Gregory Holm are the creators of this project, which will give Detroit added exposure and publicity to the blight this great city has suffered.  In a positive light though.

There are currently over 20,000 abandoned homes in Detroit; some burned out, others that need to be completely demolished.
Holm plans to photograph the transformation of the house, which will gradually be sprayed with water, thus transforming and encasing the structure completely in ice.
In the spring, crews will salvage the building materials and demolish the home.  The lot will be donated, maybe for a community garden; which have become popular in urban areas during recent years.

Detroit has a foreclosure rate that is among the Nation's highest, and it is the focus of these two former Michigan natives.  Holm and Radune are working to raise $11,000 online to fund the project, with a fast approaching deadline to meet.  The costs will help cover mostly the demolition.  As of this writing, they are still searching for a likely candidate.  We will be following this story as it develops and bring you updated content as soon as it is available.
