Convection cuisine. The trend to improve our homes and make the most out of living spaces continues.  For most people, updating our kitchens is at the top of the list, with great time saving and space saving appliances.  Convection cooking in ranges and microwaves have become prevalent in recent years, do to advances in cooking technology.  Convection allows for uniform browning, uniform baking results, and roasting times up to 30% shorter than in a conventional oven.  Most units on the market are stocked with features like self-cleaning, cook and hold, keep warm, and delay settings so you can cook according to your schedule.
Induction Cooking. Induction cooking technology is another trend that is most interesting in kitchen appliances to date.  Induction cooking is precise; heating only the pan and it's contents.  Most induction heating units rapidly boil water more quickly and efficiently than gas.  The ceramic-glass surface of these units stays cool, which results in less wasted heat.  Plus, it's surface is much easier to clean--just wipe with a damp sponge.  It's also safe; if an element should be turned on accidentally, no heat is generated unless appropriate cookware is placed on top of the cooktop.
Concrete Countertops. This trend continues as more people search for other ways to finish off their  kitchens.  Concrete is an extraordinary material that is practical, expressive, and aesthetic all at once.  The largest advantage of concrete countertops is that you can transform it into virtually any shape that you desire; fully customizable.  Countertops come in thicknesses from 2.25-inch thick to 3.5-inches thick.
The finished product must be sealed to resist staining.
Manufacturers also embed fiberglass flakes in their products to enhance and make the countertops highly dense with character.  A great alternative to granite, and other stone-based countertops.
Paint Colors This Season.  So, what paint colors are leading this year?  We're back to tried and true colors of yesteryear.  Try aqua blues, buttery yellows, and pantry greens.  Plus, flashy jewel tones and green hues inspired by nature are making news.  Rich and sophisticated colors that ooze opulence are back.  Think bold reds, glamourous golds, and dramatic darks, such as velvet green and even black.  These palettes work well in decor that's steeped in tradition, but it's also a surprisingly fresh way to add richness to an otherwise minimalist decor scheme.

We are also noticing more earth tones and less of the beige-inspired neutrals, traditionally used through out people's homes.  The quickest way to see a dramatic improvement in a room--add some color!
