tips and tricks
Cut an outlet box in plaster.  Use a flat head screwdriver, tapping lightly to break the surface coat.  Doing so will make the plaster not crack when cutting.  Once you finish tap-cutting with the screwdriver, carefully clear away the debris all the way to the lathe.  Using a keyhole saw, cut on one side of the lathe, leaving about 3/8 at the bottom.  This is so the lathe will be easy to remove without damage to the plaster.  Then, cut the other side completely.  Finally, cut the 3/8 inches on the other side.
